MALAWI: GIRAMATA’S TRIAL ACCUSED OF KILLING HER HUSBAND HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL AN UNKNOWN TIME

On 18th December 2024, the prosecution case in the High Court of Malawi against Rwandan citizen GIRAMATA GENTIYE was to resume as decided by the court in the previous case where the court had heard the testimony of the prosecution’s side. Today, the judge’s decision was expected to be heard. Suddenly, when some of the family of the deceased HABIMANA Emile arrived at the court unprepared for the trial, they tried to ask about it and were told that the trial would resume in January.

Intabwe newspaper asked the court clerk about the changes in the case and when it will resume, and in a WhatsApp message he told the Step newspaper that the case that was postponed will resume next year. When asked by the Step newspaper about the month and dates the case will take place, the court clerk replied that we will be informed when the time comes.

The information that the Step newspaper is getting from people close to GIRAMATA says that GIRAMATA may have fought in prison with those he fought with, who injured him and took him to the hospital. They say that committing violence in prison is believed to have been intended to show that he is not safe so that he can be transferred to another prison where he can escape (this information is information that the Step newspaper is still investigating to determine its truth)

Shettam newspaper will continue to follow you for the latest news.
